Professional Practice - European Countries. - Chosen country: Spain.
I have chosen to explore the country Spain for the professional practice module. I only know a little of Spanish contemporary animation, so this will be a quite exciting task to do. I will be exploring some of the countries animation background, exciting Festivals, Animation schools, work habits of Spanish animators and a few other exciting things I might come across. All my findings will be posted on this Blog in addition to my own personal notes on the subject.
Below is a Map of Spain. I've only noted down every place with a studio, even if it was only a little studio. As you can see, most Studios are on the right side of Spain and only a few ones on the left ones. (Which are all the smaller studios) The bigger companies are all near to Barcelona and Valencia. At the top I've just made a tiny list of the 3 Places with the most Studios and then put the number of studios found in that particular place in brackets.

Animation School in Spain and what they have to offer.
While browsing through dozen and dozen of list of animation schools all around Spain, I've come across a few ones that interested me the most so I will talk about those ones for a little while in more detail.
First I've found the 'Acadmemia Guiu' a very prestigious school with 120 years of teaching experience. The degree programs offers various kinds of animation paths ways. If you're more a traditional 2D lover, 3D designer or animator or rather want to specialise in stop motion, this school will be able to cater to your every need. It has a broad 3D design and animation department as well as an equally large 2D department so whichever way you decide to go, you can do it here. With only the best reviews and comments this school has a lot to offer for everyone.
Secondly, I came across the 'ARTENEO Formación en Artes Visuales'
Their degree programs offer more computer based animation. You can do everything from 3D design/ animation to game design, visual arts and Web design. However, they also have quite a broad art program where you can get involved into illustration, applied arts, graphic design, painting and life drawing if that is what you're interested in. From what I've read, I can say the school has quite a big and especially successful history and is definitely worth checking out. http://www.arteneo.com/Galeria-de-Trabajos
And last but definitely not least,I stumbled across A School with a very quite exclusive Masters program. FX Animation 3D School in Barcelona offers an impressive Masters program. Everything is more computer based, but I've had a little gander at the module plans and from what I could understand, it was all super interesting, new, innovative and modern stuff that was taught, of course only using the newest technology and software. Their website was already quite impressive so you can only guess what previous student projects turned out to be like! A really interesting find that will not be forgotten anytime soon.
